I live on the Main Road and the amount of high speed traffic is just beyond. My family has already lost a life to the road. Don’t need that happening to anyone else.Danielle Kihi (Napier, 2022-04-08)

I think the speed is too high with no protection for pedestrians walking, someone is going to get really hurt or die if action isn't taken!Grant Radovanovich (Napier, 2022-04-08)

I’m signing because my family including five young grandsons live in Bay View and a lower speed limit would be safer for this community.Pauline Franklin (Napier, 2022-04-08)

For safety’s sake we need relief from fast traffic where there are so many roads and driveways adjacent to the highwayAlison Ritchie (Bay View, 2022-04-08)

as a Bay View resident I totally agree the speed limit should be reduced to 50 kph, it’s a residential area after all!!Jenny Menhennett (Napier, 2022-04-08)

I’m affected by the noise, the speeding traffic, the shaking of the house as the speeding trucks go by and trying to get out of my driveway.Carol Burgess (Napier, 2022-04-08)

I live on Main North Road and the trucks speed past there at all hours shaking my house and waking my child upMj van der Linden (Napier, 2022-04-09)

I believe the road speed should be reduced through Bay View because I have children that walk along side the main road and need to cross it. It feels very unsafe pulling on to the road from driveways and side streets - especially when near a bend in the road and you do not have a view of coming traffic. The vibration of the heavy traffic also affects my house with doors and widows rattling.Rebecca Hughes (Napier, 2022-04-09)

I like slower drivingMatthew Spring (Napier, 2022-04-09)

Driving this road twice a day , extremely busy with two petrol stations, cars stopping , pulling out, trucks etc. Residential and growing. No need for it to be 70km. 50km makes sense to keep it safer for everyone.Yvette Dennis (Napier, 2022-04-10)

The traffic us driving me insane,, please slow it down, it is slow very dangerous just trying to get across the road,Kimv Huntet (Napier, 2022-04-17)

I live in Bayview and believe that having vehicles travelling at 70km per hour on the Highway through our village is extremely dangerous.Glynis Cooper (Napier, 2022-04-19)

I drive that road every fortnight & it’s busy little township, at other townships it is 50km why not Bayview!!Leonie Laking (Hastings, 2022-04-28)

Very dangerous road especially coming out of one of the side streets because of all the traffic!Frances Bryant (Napier, 2022-04-28)

That road is very dangerous for vehicles and pedestrians, the area has had a huge increase in residents and traffic and is unsafe at its present speed.Nicky Magnussen-Dvorsky (Napier, 2022-04-28)

Built up area with lots of houses. With over 13,000 vehicles a day, needs to be reduced. I have previously written an emailbto Nz Transport with my concerns over speedKay Moore (Napier, 2022-12-01)

I live in Bayview, and believe with the traffic and the number of properties directly on this road warrant a safer speed. Compounded by traffic increasing speed as they approach the passing lane at the southern end.Maureen Locke (Napier, Bayview, 2022-12-01)

The vehicles are traveling to fast thru Bayview. You have no foot path to the side of it with no barrier or gutter from the fast traffic. No where in New Zealand have I seen at town with such a dangerous main road. Try walking a small child down this road with a meter between you and vehicles traveling at 70 kms an hour. Just a death trap for any child.Dawn Harris (Napier, 2022-12-01)

I'm signing because I live here in Bayview with my 2 girls. It makes sense to have the speed reduced to 50km as the community is definitely growing extremely quick, aswell as all the traveller's visiting, truckies, campers. It's not just the locals coming through so they aren't aware of all the ongoing of what this beautiful community does for each other. Safer road means more lives saved.Shana Smith (Napier, 2022-12-01)

We back onto the main road and NZTA confirmed that a large percentage of all vehicles are traveling at speeds over 70km/h. Plus lots of traffic and kidsAndrew Booth (Napier, 2022-12-01)

I have seen so many accidents and close calls as people enter and exit the road along that stretch of highway that I am certain there will be more accidents and injuries unless the traffic slows down.Linda Paterson (Bay View, 2022-12-01)

I live in bayview off the main road and my kids catch the bus on the main road. People go way over 70 already. It’s just accidents waiting to happenNikita Roberts (Napier, 2022-12-01)

I’m signing this as the speed is to fast in Bay Veiw as there is lots of kids crossing the road and the likes of Clive are 50km so it should be the same as this is a residential area toCorran Nicholls (Napier, 2022-12-05)

Trucks going this speed are death traps for the many citizens including children everyday trying to cross the road after a school bus drop off. It needs to change, it’s too fast to be driving at 70km.Suzanne Mudgway (Napier, 2022-12-06)

I drive through daily. This stretch of road clearly should be 70km/h if this doesn’t happen then the road to zero campaign needs to be scrapped.Sam Elliott (Eskdale, 2022-12-06)

It’s very dangerous along there and as my sister lives on the main Bayview road it’s hard coming out of her driveway to turn onto main road with traffic speeding past.Margaret Eriha (Wairoa, 2022-12-16)

This really needs to be done. The road is a residential area and really needs a slower speed area.Nicholas Harvey (Wellington, 2023-01-03)

I live on the main north road in Bayview. I have complained three times to waka Kotahi and they told me they have no intention of bringing the speed limit down in this area. I have explained about it being a residential area with many young children and how a lot of ignorant people are going above the 70km . Also truck drivers are even exceeding the speed limit. I have had aggressive drivers being nasty to me when i am trying to get out of my driveway and also going into my driveway. I have seen near misses of trucks rear ending buses but this is not enough reason for them to reduce the speed limit. I am sick of waka Kotahi not listening to the residents in this area who have legitimate concerns.Bling Bling (Napier, 2023-04-16)

I live on the main road and daily witness extremely dangerous situationsCharlie Corbett (Bay view, 2024-03-14)

I am signing because i have seen and experienced first hand on multiple occasions how hard it is to cross the road with heavy fast moving traffic. Trucks also create a strong wind that is very frightening if you are standing waiting to cross the road. There are a lot of children in this area and it is even harder for them to navigate crossing the road than an adult.Jae Whelan (Hastings, 2024-03-15)

I live on Main North Road and have a young child who catches a school bus on this road. People are always speeding well over the 50Km limit and it’s not safe for the numerous amount of kids catching buses and children in general who live with their families on this main road. Its extremely loud at night also with trucks being able to go 70kmMJ Jones (Napier, 2024-03-15)

I'm signing because I'm local and feel scared for my son to try to cross the roadClaire Oconnor-bryant (Napier, 2024-03-15)

My 5 year old daughter was killed crossing the road from Petane Domain she took off from her big brother if the speed limit was 50km she would be alive today I do this to support the children and parents of Petane Bay ViewRick Kihi (Baldivis, 2024-03-15)

It needs to be 50, such a built up area, children every where, school buses. You have 50km in towns and suburbs this is no different. People are doing over 70 km, no speed cameras to monitor the situation.Leigh Poole (Napier, 2024-03-15)

This is a must in this area. There is loads of children around here. My child get picked up and dropped off from a bus and there is heaps of other buses in this area dropping children off. There safety is most important.Kym Paviour (Napier, 2024-03-15)

I live in bay view and have children. Traffic needs to slow down.Kendyl Brock (Napier, 2024-03-15)

I’m signing because we lived in Bay View and know how much it affects the community negatively to have the traffic through there so quickly. It’s only 10km/hr slower than the open road!!!!!!! That’s ridiculous.Rachel Ross (Napier, 2024-03-15)
#118
70 is too fast for an area that is highly populated and has many school buses operating in it. Dropping it by 20km/h will add an extra couple of minutes at most to someone’s journey but might make the difference to a child crossing the roadAlex Jones (Napier, 2024-03-15)

I think it is crazy that it is still 70 - kids on bikes, waiting for buses on footpaths, tonnes of driveways and businesses to pull on and out of.Clare Pudney (Napier, 2024-03-15)
#127
I'm signing because it is very dangerous crossing the road with all the traffic on the main highway now. Also Bay View needs to be like Clive and numerous other small towns that have a 50km speed limit.Liz Taylor (Napier, 2024-03-16)
