#2012016-02-08 09:09The trees enhance the environment and should not be removed. There must be an alternative way to transmit the electricity ie underground . |

#2022016-02-08 09:15Idiots gone man crazy again. There are always other options....eg move the lines....top the trees. Kill beauty for the sake of ugly. Some bureaucrat needs to take a pay cut which is far better than cutting down a tree/s. |

#2032016-02-08 09:25I love those trees. And I knew Bill and his family 25 years ago. He solved things before they became problems. Delta makes problems trying to solve things. How many alternatives has it considered to chopping them down, and firing them through its big chipper? There only look to be around half a dozen power poles along that line. Perhaps the family might grant Delta an easement to run the lines away from the trees. |

#2052016-02-08 09:27I visit Queenston regularly and love those trees on Ladies Mile. It's not ok to just cut them down with no public discussion firstly and secondly just to accommodate the power lines. Shift the power lines instead! |

#2062016-02-08 09:52Delta / Aurora seem to have a knack of wasting millions on some big projects. (Jacks Point, Luggate and Yaldhurst subdivisions). Why not spend a little on helping to enhance such a scenic area? Think a little harder Delta, beyond chainsaws and wood chippers. |

#2072016-02-08 09:55They're beautiful trees. I think Queenstown cuts down trees to easily. |

#2082016-02-08 10:28it would be totally irresponsible to cut down these beautiful trees on the gateway to Queenstown. Please look at the obvious other solution. |

#2092016-02-08 11:21Likely loss of a very attractive selection of trees that add significantly to the rural character of Ladies Mile. Alternatives do not seem to have been considered. The QLDC have abrogated their responsibility and leadership to ensure the environment is protectted and enhanced. |

#2102016-02-08 12:02Lets show appreciation for the beauty of these trees and what they add to the entrance to Queenstown. surely there is an intelligent farsighted person who can come up with an alternative solution! |

#2112016-02-08 16:59We need the trees to beautify the entrance to Queenstown! The trees were there first! |

#2132016-02-08 18:11I'm all for saving the trees but that costs money. Money from either - Delta, the landowner, council, Trusts or the public or some mixture of the above. So if it costs $15,000 a year to maintain them, then to preserve them for the next ten years would cost $150,000. So who is responsible for paying that? It is going to cost something to cut down the trees and clean up the verge, so funds from that can go directly into any future pool. Is that a Council/Delta/Landowner/Public consortium who fund the ongoing maintenance and seek funding to save them? What are the costs to underground the lines, and where do they need to be installed to miss out fencing, trees and future tree roots, and avoid future easement allowances for services and potential widening of the road? Who's putting up their hand to lead this thing, and be the voice for the trees that the Wakatipu want to save? |

#2142016-02-08 18:14The trees help beautify and soften the Ladies Mile road side. The ongoing development of the Frankton Flats is taking away the rural nature of the entrance to Queenstown and any reduction of natural features exacerbates this. |

#2152016-02-08 18:16Important we don't just cut down trees before looking at alternative options |

#2162016-02-08 18:28These trees are a lovely natural entrance to Queenstown plus they yield free food for the community. Plus these power lines should be put under ground anyway. |

#2172016-02-08 18:48obvious !!!!! the win win in that case is to bury the electric lines and let the trees be . what's another trench in the massive road work being done now?? |

#2182016-02-08 19:26Typical arrogance / ignorance shown by power utility to suggest and with the intention of cutting down these trees. |

#2192016-02-08 19:28I have been a regular holiday maker in Queenstown for over 60 years and these trees are iconic. Put the power underground and leave these beautiful trees. Power lines are unsightly, these trees are picturesque and set the scene for the entry to such a wonderful holiday destination. |

#2212016-02-08 19:44We made our home in the Wakatipu in !985..one of key attractions was the natural beauty of the area that had been enhanced by the generations before. During our time here beautification including landscaping and trees continued to be added by residents with a strong love of the area , such acts are not for today but for the future of the area and its visitors and residents. To remove these Ladies mile trees will take just a moment in time, but potentially deprive thousands of future generations of the pleasure of enjoyment short term cost is a small consideration. |

#2222016-02-08 20:03Feel strongly that the trees should remain and the power lines go underground |

#2232016-02-08 20:28A travesty.Who owns trees?certainly not a power company. |
Guest |
#2242016-02-08 20:38Just how much does it cost to put the power lines underground?? They are the eye saw - not the trees. Can we all donate to remove a power pole each??? |
Guest |
#2252016-02-08 20:45Delta were negligent in erecting a powerline over the top of the trees and so should solve the problem of maintence now themselves. the power line should be undergrounded so that the trees do not have to be deformed by the wires. |
