#2262016-02-08 20:51The trees are beautiful and should stay - put the power lines underground |

#2272016-02-08 20:59This is very short sighted and goes against our long term vision of creating a great tourist attraction. |

#2282016-02-08 21:26The lines appear to have been moved to their current position without a full review of the future consequences. Ie The trees would naturally grow creating the current situation. Poor planning. Put the power cables underground. |

#2292016-02-08 21:51The avenue of trees is beautiful, in an area that is becoming uglier every day. Surely there is another way to handle the problem of the overhead cables, other than destruction of these old and lovely trees, left to us by foresighted people who came before us? |

#2302016-02-08 22:15Trees are vital to our survival and also for the ambience of the area People come to see the clean green NZ lets not ruin that image!! |

#2312016-02-08 23:14Are we going to turn all of the Wakatipu into a treeless, industrial site. Put the lines underground now Delta. |
Guest |
#2322016-02-08 23:19The trees are on private land. Delta must make alternative arrangements with their lines. |
Guest |
#2332016-02-08 23:21To keep the trees intact, and to underline that not only Central Otago people know and appreciate the trees in this area. |

#2342016-02-08 23:49Trees should never be cut down PERIOD Cant they be re-located or given to homes OR NOT BE CUT DOWN? |
Guest |
#2352016-02-09 00:09Thank you for establishing this petition - I hope this will make all the difference. A very short sighted response from Delta. |

#2372016-02-09 00:55The trees are not too big yet and were there first. The lines should have been placed further back and presumably on the same private property. |

#2382016-02-09 01:08All residents gain a benefit from these trees remaining. As such the maintenance should be a responsibility of Council funded from general rates as is the maintenance of other trees within the district. The loss of amenity along Ladies Mile and Frankton Flats over the last few years has been huge and maintaining these trees is a small mitigation measure consistent with the Queenstown Entrances Study (which seems long forgotten). |

#2392016-02-09 01:09To save the trees in the entrance to Queenstown. Surely as a council we could put the over head wires under ground. As a rate payer of multiple properties in area I would see this as adding value. Mark and Julie Hillary |

#2402016-02-09 02:20Save the trees! Public meeting on Ladies Mile in car park at start of McDowall Drive 6pm Thursday 11th! |

#2412016-02-09 02:28This summer has highlighted the need for shade which these beautiful trees provide. Power can be placed underground. |
Guest |
#2422016-02-09 02:59This is a most beautiful vista and I"m sure the council can create a pathway for the wires through the trees. |

#2432016-02-09 03:26The wires should be put underground. This is a beautiful entrance to queenstown. |

#2452016-02-09 04:23Because I agree with Alan Brady. The trees were there first. Pip Chapman |

#2462016-02-09 05:30 1/. We live 1/3 of the year here and 2/3rds in Hastings 2/. We could not believe that such significant natural landscape is ( pronounced/ decided) just like this issue 3/. We belong to a Community/ Council entity in Hawke's Bay (Landmarks Trust) that has gained significant consultation and opinion gathering rights " around the table with Hastings District Council Officers" - this group meets x 4 a year formally and many times informally as issues arise. This issue would have been given high vis on our agendas. 4/. Our Trust holds the rights to opinion on Landscape/ Architecture/ History and Public Art 5/. On trees - we lobbied and gained a Register of Significant Trees ( public and private) - with a sensible protocol in cases of trimming/ cutting e.g. 6/. Boy oh boy, does Queenstown need such a public consultation group - effecting just about everything. 7/. The powers that be simply have to stop ruining the very things that make this place special. Regards Joyce & Dave Barry |

#2482016-02-09 07:03Those trees could be timed there is no reason to cut them down sadly all the good reasons to come to Queenstown are been lost like the rest of the world to development and man ability to spoil all that nature has to offer . |

#2492016-02-09 07:57The trees will give a pleasure for many years. The power lines can be shifted |

#2502016-02-09 07:58The trees are beautiful and enhance the entrance to Queenstown. The trees were there before the lines and I believe the wires should be underground. I am concerned that progress will damage Queenstown's beauty and fighting to keep the trees is very important. Read the Lorax..Dr Seuss identified that all over the world people have not acted and beautiful places have been ruined through progress. Save the trees. |
