#262014-04-09 21:54The club has a long history of developing sports at grassroots level. This is what societies need today and it is something than they cannot afford to lose. |

#272014-04-10 08:30The importance of playing fields to local communities is immeasurable. Too many have been sold off to developers in the past twenty years. I hope this campaign is successful in retaining a much loved & needed facility. |

#29 Re:2014-04-10 10:13Any residential building on playing fields, whether by a charity or any other builder, should not be allowed. This unacceptable proposal would reduce football/rugby pitches from the current 4 Adult and one Junior pitch to just one shared (and undersized) football/rugby pitch. The proposed all-weather pitch is for a minority sport (hockey) and is not suitable for adult football. |

#302014-04-11 08:55OS Playing Fields is a beautiful tranquil haven in which it is a joy to play football and cricket. As a Worcester Park Captain it is always a pleasure to play on the OS ground which provides one of the best pitches in our league and certainly some of the best changing rooms and kitchen facilities. It would be a great shame if any part of this ground is built upon. |

#312014-04-11 14:31My hope is for future generations to enjoy as much pleasure from the playing fields of Ewell as the generations before them. Personally some of my greatest memories. |

#352014-04-11 23:53I am appalled that this facility which has been around for many years could be plundered to use for housing development. No wonder we are unable to develop sport in this country when it's green fields are being taken away. Remember once this facility is gone you will never get it back. Please get this petition going to save all who love it this wonderful location and all the people who have used it and those who continue to use it. |

#362014-04-12 08:58When the Government/ Mr Gove tell us we need more outside activity for our schoolchildren I fail to understand how any town/village would let an application such as this succeed. |

#382014-04-13 06:49The decision to build on this playing field is a disgrace. The ground is currently used by a variety of school's and clubs. Much has been said on here about the physical benefits on playing sport, the Olympic Legacy and the demise of sports grounds. If planning permission is granted there will also be a significant social impact. The football club that has played there for 80 years takes it membership from a variety of social classes. Across the teams you have bank managers, school boys, students, academics, plumbers and the unemployed. The ground has acted as a haven for many of the school leavers who have gone onto to play for the football team. On a Saturday afternoon the ground is filled with families and up to five generations all socialising and playing sport together. If this is not prevented this will be lost forever. |

#392014-04-13 09:46This is another case of a large organisation wishing to take over and destroy our green spaces. What are we going to leave for our future generations especially when there are other sites available. This site is currently used by local schools and sports clubs and needs protecting. |

#412014-04-13 17:35Local sport is extremely important to the local community. As well as providing a focal point and common interest that can bring local people together, keeping them fit and healthy, it also provides vital opportunities for young people to grow, learn discipline, learn how to be part of a team as well as giving them something fun and exiting to do. Protecting our sporting venues is of the utmost importance. |

#432014-04-14 10:22These fields have provided 2 or 3 lifetimes of fresh air and exercise for generations of children, young people and veterans, building up and adding to their self-confidence, sustaining good health and years of enjoyment. Who would want to take that away from this and future generations? And for what? How the world needs its open air meadows such as Ewell Playing Fields! Anthony Doran |

#442014-04-14 16:07The loss of so many playing fields in the UK over recent years has been a serious loss and keeping those that remain is essential. |

#452014-04-14 17:50SDB Trustees hardly treating their FAMILY well. 80 years usage of the ground as Old Salesians tossed aside acrimoniously. What would Don Bosco think of his successors in the Community. |

#462014-04-14 20:55Drip, drip, drip -- don't let us lose one more playing field -- we do value the moments and hours we have spent enjoying sport in England's idyllic playing fields, they are a resource we want to pass on to our descendants Peter Barker |

#472014-04-14 21:54Ewell is in danger of losing its character with this continuous overdevelopment. Already traffic is unsustainable and the train station flooded and yet there is more. To top it off they want to use the fields where my sons have played football and spent many hours exploring. Stop this right now please. Please. |

#482014-04-15 08:28This proposed development is unnecessary in this area and other more suitable locations are available. Sports fields take years to develop and days to destroy. How short sighted are we to remove the facilities we have in such a way. |

#492014-04-15 08:36This should be held up as a wonderful example of money-grabbing opportunism by the current owners and a fantastic campaign of misinformation, double-speak and downright dishonesty by the prospective purchaser and their agents. Ewell does not deserve this type of organisation within its village. If they are successful, could they be trusted to treat their residents honestly given their track record? I certainly wouldn't trust them. Why on earth does Ewell need yet another sheltered accommodation provision anyway? Does the medical centre have the capacity? Highly unlikely. Why deprive those who are still active very good sporting facilities? Our Olympic legacy should be respected. If a home is needed then put it on one of the old hospital sites towards Horton. |

#502014-04-15 10:41Playing fields are a vital resource for improving an individual's health, and by extension reducing the cost to society for health care. |
