OPPOSING THE REDUCTION OF LANES ON THE LINE 2B OF THE TRT/BRT

I am a resident and I use business premises right next to Lynnwood Road. I saw what the effect of single lane bus lanes has been in some areas of Johannesburg and I predict a disastrous effect in Lynnwood area Pretoria.

The proposal to reduce lanes in Lynwood Road is shortsighted and flawed

Should not just make decisions without consulting people involved

The municipality is ridiculous in the arbitrary way it takes decisions based on flawed perceptions without considering reality. It is time the taxpayers of the city made their voice heard by voting with their purses.

As a frequent user of Lynnwood Road (to access UP) from varius directions I am well aware, and already frustrated by the already congested state of the road in question.
The decision by "Council" makes absolutely no sense.
Any first year Transport Economy student will confirm.

Because it will cause a traffic nightmare. I use the Gautrain daily coming from Lynwood to Hatfield.

The reality is that one cannot rely on the public transport system with all the strikes, sometimes happening with no notice. For some of us, a) we are required to use our vehicles to travel to clients during the day to places with no bus linkages and b) Cannot afford to show up at work late or not at all due to the frequent strikes. 

Furthermore, these buses do not run to all areas. I have NEVER seen an Areyeng bus in my area. 

Unnecessary time waste and no contribution to infrastructure development and also a disadvantage to the community and misuse of tax money which I contribute to.

i live in the area and the thought of narrowing the applicable roads to one lane each way is preposterous

Traffic is heavy already

Don't close lanes in Lynnwood Road, the road is not built for this and it will cause horrible traffic congestion. People need to commute on this road and it will be a nightmare.

One lane is rediculous

Unpractical,time consuming,waste of fuel,enhancing road rage etc etc!

It will cause traffic jams rather than be a solution to the problem

Dis sal chaos veroorsaak as die bane verminder word! Dis al erg genoeg soos dit is, en met beurtkrag gaan dit nog baie erger word!

It would make more economic sense to widen the road to support the BRT lanes, than to restrict all other traffic into the area.

Traffic is already congested, and a large amount of people working in the city use Lynnwood. Reducing the lanes would harm the economy as many people will have their jobs at risk due to being late on a constant basis. It would greatly increase the traffic problem!

We already have huge traffic problems with all the development in the area, more people, more cars, it does not make sense to put more pressure on existing insufficient infrastructure.

I oppose the reduction of lanes on the line 2B of the TRT/BRT because it will have devastating economic, social and safety consequences for businesses, schools and the public in general in the East of Pretoria.

It will influence my travelling time in and out of campus. Because I'm part of support service at UP I need to be in time especially the scheduled training programmes that I'm responsible for.

Visit Pretoria on regular basis and use Lynnwood road.

Already the slow traffic flow in peak hours is devastating to private life. It is stealing hours of our time - how much worse will it be if these plans are implemented. The bus service will not be accessible to all areas. Further there is a real possibility of people being mugged and robbed along the way, especially elderly persons.

These streets with two lanes each in both directions are already congested with traffic during peak hours. They will be permanently congested if lanes are reduced to one per direction.

Traffic is getting worse every year. People are leaving homes earlier every year to get their children to school on time or to work. It is very logic to calculate that if you have 2 lanes and the are reduced to 1, that the time to travel will double. Never mind the time (which will lessen productivity), pollution will increase as cars will be idling much longer, older cars could get car problems (overheat heat etc) and where will they pull off???We are supposed to be moving forward, not backwards. I think it will be very embarrassing for visitors to Pretoria to witness. It is fine to have a bus, but how often do buses not arrive? Often, as we discovered. Buses aren't frequent enough and do not cover all routes to send children to school on the bus. If you look at city buses, they are near empty. Rather wait until you have enough money to widen the road. The disadvantages at this stage are much more than the advantages.
