The Irish Famine was the first clearly documentated famine in the world, which is correct to call a Genocide aginst the Irish peoples.

I would urge everyone to read "The Famine Plot" by Tim Pat Coogan. This book, which was published in 2012, proves beyond all reasonable doubt that the Great Hunger was caused by the laissez faire policies of elements of the British Government and establishment who wanted to greatly reduce the population of Ireland in order to reform its agricultural practices. The British people were not to blame.

I thank you for yor signature. It is important to note that the ordinary people of England endured extreme hardship also under Government in Westminster at the time. Many ordinary English folk gave donations to the suffering Irish. I would be failing in my duty as a site administrator if I laid the blame on the English people. The blame lies squarely on the Government of England and the likes of Trevelyan,Russell, Palmerston and Clarendon plus many others that held power. The great Irishman, Daniel O'Connell stood in the Parliament and told them that if were up to the generosity of the English people, the Irish problem could be solved. He went on to say,"Unfortunately, it is the generosity of the English parliament that is required". They looked down upon their own as well to their shame.  Thanks, Joe.

Famine in Ireland was not a natural disaster as most believe. It was a choking and closing of ports that brought trade to a halt. Closing canals that were the only form of transport to take wool, dairy produce and trade away from the people. Before the embargo there were 8000 people in Ireland and four thousand head of cattle. After the reeducation of people. Numbers reverted to 80000 head of cattle and 4000 of people.

I have long thought that this was genocide. In fact I suggested to the NAtional Irish Famine Memorial to put the word genocide in it's name.
When ships were lined up outside of Canada for 2 miles waiting to be seen by doctors, many died waiting and were thrown overboard. Why didn't anyone tell England to stop sending those ship. They sent a sick and starving on a long voyage without food. They KNEW what they were doing. It was also a vicious land grab.

The irish deserve an apology. It was genocide not famine. The truth needs to be told for the English and the Irish to heal together.

May this petition be a stain on Britain's Ruling Classes and not Britain's people themselves, as they are innocent of the actions of their leaders in this land of ours and all other lands else where in the World. May the inocent of these henious crime be not forgotten and may it be used to never forget the attempted desimation of our country and also the attempted of peoples around the world today by the same ruling classes and ruling elite worldwide.
